KLIA, 26 June 2020: Malaysia Airlines has proactively adopted enhanced safety and health measures at its Golden Lounges to help boost its guests’ confidence in travel whilst continuing to offer them a premium and personalized Malaysian Hospitality experience.
In line with this, Malaysia Airlines organized the first inspection at the airline’s Golden Lounges in KL International Airport, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health of Malaysia (MOH). The inspection was held to ensure that all the necessary COVID-19 related safety measures outlined are in accordance with guidelines set by the authorities before the reopening of its Domestic lounge on 8 July 2020.
Malaysia Airlines’ Group Chief Operations Officer, Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi said, “COVID-19 has changed the face of travel as we know it. As an airline that cares, we are continuously listening to the voice of our passengers and doing everything we can to address their expectations and demands, without compromising on the safety, security and hygiene aspects.”
He added, “The new initiatives are part of Malaysia Airlines' vision in ensuring the health and welfare of customers and employees remains of the utmost priority while ensuring our lounges continue to provide a premium and personal experience.”
Amongst the safety measures evaluated and recommended for the airline’s guests at the lounge includes the implementation of:
- Contactless registration and temperature scanning;
- Hand sanitizers at all critical locations within the lounge;
- Social distancing seating arrangements and capacity monitoring;
- Digital food and beverage ordering solution via QR code as well as ‘grab & go’ pre packed light meals; and
- Adoption of heightened hygiene protocols at prayer rooms, family room and nap room
“We are very grateful for the support and input from the Malaysia’s Ministry of Health in developing these new SOPs, as we prepare to ramp up our operations to offer new experiences, authentic Malaysian cuisine and Malaysian Hospitality for our guests. Most importantly, we will continue to ensure that effectiveness of the preventive measures is aligned and in accordance with international best practices and recommendations,” added Ahmad Luqman.
Malaysia Airlines is also exploring the possibility of replacing hardcopy media with digital options and to also feature safety videos and reminders on the overall health and safety etiquette expected from all guests during their stay on all of the TV screens in the lounges.
Malaysia Airlines has also produced a series of communications resources for our customers with infographics, travel checklist and advisories featured across our social media platforms, website, direct mail, and displayed at the lounge under the ‘Fly Confidently’ campaign.
Guests looking for the next Fly Malaysia experience may book their tickets on Malaysia Airlines’ official website at www.malaysiaairlines.com or via the airline’s mobile app and appointed agents.
Passengers are urged to perform online or mobile check-in to reduce interaction and avoid the queues at the airport, especially those travelling on domestic and regional routes. Passengers are also reminded to check entry and exit requirements before their journeys with travel restrictions remaining in place in most countries.
