KLIA, 15 August 2024 - Malaysia Airlines today celebrated the successful launch of its inaugural flight to Chiang Mai, Thailand. Flight MH772 departed KL International Airport Terminal 1 (KUL) at 11.50am, operated by a Boeing 737-8, and safely landed in Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) at 1.40pm. The return flight, MH 773, departed at 2:40pm and arrived back in KUL at 6:45pm local time.
Starting from 15 August 2024, Malaysia Airlines will commence five times weekly return flights to Chiang Mai every Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, providing convenient travel options for passengers, ensuring seamless connectivity between Kuala Lumpur and Chiang Mai.
Ahmad Luqman Mohd Azmi, Chief Executive Officer of Airlines from Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said, “We are thrilled to announce the commencement of our inaugural flight to Chiang Mai with a 100% load factor, marking a significant milestone in our efforts to strengthen our role as the gateway to Asia and beyond. This new service marks our 16th ASEAN destination and extends our network to cover the northern part of Thailand directly to Malaysia, enhancing connectivity within the region while enriching the travel experience for our passengers. Our expansion aligns with our commitment to supporting Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VMY 2026), as we aim to contribute to Malaysia’s tourism goals by increasing accessibility and driving growth for inbound tourists.”
To celebrate the commencement of this new route, Malaysia Airlines is offering special introductory fares starting RM639 all-in return on Economy Class from now until 31 August 2024, with fares including 20kg of checked-in baggage, and 7kg of cabin baggage. Travellers are invited to fly with Malaysia Airlines to indulge in the rich local cuisine, immerse in Chiang Mai’s vibrant streets, delight in the heartwarming experience of interacting with elephants, discover iconic landmarks such as the majestic Doi Suthep temple, capture the magnificent carvings at Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara, and many more attractive attractions in Chiang Mai.
