Take in a world where literature, dance, fine arts and music find their home. The capital of Tamil Nadu is alive with the glamour and excitement of the Tamil film industry, and is a direct contrast to the vast array of religious sites scattered throughout the city. Crumbling ancient temples are aplenty here such as Kapaleeswarar and Adivyadhihara Sri Bhakta, with a towering 32-foot Hanuman glowering above it.
If you feel like doing something artsy, head over to one of the many institutes around the city to learn yoga, ‘bharata natyam’, carnatic music and ‘bhagavad gita’. For some memories of your trip, pick out some handicrafts like incense, camphor and lamps.
