Prepare to be charmed in the city of smiles, lights and a thousand faces, a place that was once ruled by the Qutub Shahis nearly 400 years ago. One of the first things to do here is see Hyderabad's icon, the splendid Charminar minaret. It soars 48.7 metres above ground, and there are 45 prayer spaces located within the upper floors. For a taste of history, head over to the magnificent Falaknuma Palace, which covers 939,712 square metres and is a unique blend of Italian and Tudor architecture. This monument is laid out in the shape of a scorpion with two stings spread out.
Do sample some of the delightful cuisine such as ‘kachchi gosht ki biriyani’, where raw meat is stir fried with spices (masala) for a couple of minutes and then covered with rice. Complete the meal with some ‘Irani chai’, the tea of Hyderabad.
